The past 6 weeks have been crazy – I’m swirling with emotions, overwhelmed in the best ways, and feeling very stoked on the future.
This campaign has been like a month long virtual wedding. All my friends are invited to the party – and I’ve had the opportunity to catch up with so many different people. It’s a stressful process – but the end result makes the whole thing worth it.
It’s been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and I never want to do it again.
If I had to break down some of my biggest learnings in the past month they’d boil down to these two things:
1) Words are more valuable than money. While I’ve appreciated the financial contributions towards my campaign, the most valuable aspect of this whole process has been the personal connections. The direct encouragement that I’ve had has given me so much confidence and motivation – it really feels like fuel that keeps me going every day. I’m wanting to succeed to prove you right.
Food for thought: be proactive in telling the people in your life that you believe in them. They will appreciate it more than you know.
2) Inspiring others is my single biggest motivator. I want to succeed so that others will look at me and be inspired to find their own version of the boat biz. If I make this work for me, I’ll pave the way for others to take that leap of faith towards their dreams. That’s more exciting to me than anything.
Overall – I’m a better person because of this experience. It hasn’t been easy and it’s been emotionally taxing – but I kept going and I’m proud of where I stand today. In a lot of ways, the key to being a successful entrepreneur is to keep your head up, have a good mindset, and keep going.
This campaign has prepared me for what’s next. Time to go get customers, build my brand here in San Diego, and make this thing sustainable. Let’s go.
38 days in -- $22,991 raised
6 days to go -- need to get that final $2k and we'll call it a day!
